Tim Gentry

Tim Gentry is a thought leader in value chain disruption and protection measurements. His body of work exhibits true understanding of how to leverage market forces to extract and defend value.  He currently sits as an advisor for shared economy startups and investment funds, providing market leadership.

Previously, Tim was the Senior Vice President for Business Transformation and Acceleration at Avaya; a TPG company.  He was in charge of driving accountability at all levels of the business to provide go-to-market growth and cultural transformation for Avaya.  He co-chaired a targeted sales acceleration executive team that focused on Avaya’s IPO packaging and quarterly revenue commitments.  

Tim serves on the boards of Interactive Government Holdings (IGH) and American Security Program (ASP).  IGH is a Service Disabled Veteran owned company that is focused on partnering with clients to provide best in class program practices and execution of service to US citizens.  ASP is a nonpartisan think tank created to educate the American public and the world about the changing nature of National Security in the 21st Century.

Tim was the CEO / Managing Director for Avaya Asia South Pacific. He was based in Sydney, Australia, and headed the strategic leadership for Avaya as it delivered high performance networks, new multi-channel communication solutions, and services to the ANZ marketplace.

Previously, in the United States, Tim was the Senior Vice President and General Manager for Civilian and Advanced Intelligence Programs and Sales Operations for Nortel Networks.  As a senior leader in that capacity, Tim drove to provide solutions to meet the strategic transformation initiatives for the Civilian Marketplace, Intelligence and Global Governments. He was responsible for providing, executing and determining new business opportunities.

Before Nortel and Avaya, Tim provided direction and management for the business design for Adelphia Business Solutions. Tim and his team focused on mergers and acquisitions actions for the parent company and the newly acquired companies; standardizing processes and Go-to-market strategies to improve and streamline the service offerings available to Adelphia's customer base.

Tim was also a founder and Senior Partner at VGE where he led the management consulting practice that enhanced productivity for clients and established best practices. In addition, he personally led the business process re-engineering and systems implementation of mission-critical financial and security infrastructures.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Information Systems from Salisbury University, Master of Business Administration in both International Finance and Global Information Technology from American University, Washington, District of Columbia and an eMBA from Harvard Business School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is a current active member of Young Presidents Organization. 

Tim has competed in several championship races and matches.  He recently competed and was a finalist in the CEO Challenge.  He also medaled twice in the Budweiser World Cup for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
