Brian Porter is a recent retiree of the Ohio Army National Guard. When Brian joined IGH in January, it was his first civilian job since 1997! We’re pleased Brian chose to join us as Regional Employment Specialist for the Ohio National Guard.
Brian’s military experience uniquely qualifies him to assist service members, veterans and their families seeking employment. Brian retired as a First Sergeant after 24 years of service. His specialty, 19K Armor Crewman, 79T Recruiting & Retention NCO, allowed him to build relationships with people across the state.
A native of Bellaire, Ohio, Brian now resides in Uniontown with his wife and children. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports and following his favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and Michigan Wolverines.
The following is a brief Q&A with Brian:
Q. How does IGH help you grow professionally?
A. IGH has given me the opportunity to continue working with military personnel. Soldier care has been my #1 priority while serving in the military for the last 24 years and now I have an opportunity with IGH to continue that as a retiree.
Q. How did your military service prepare you for your current career?
A. I spent the last 16 years in Recruiting Command at many different levels, so the transition was exceptionally smooth. I was very prepared in assisting soldiers and speaking with employers.
Q. What would you tell someone considering a career at IGH?
A. IGH has been very great in my retirement transition from the active military to the civilian workforce. I am very pleased how the company made me feel part of a team again.
Brian, we appreciate your military service of 24 years and now we are grateful you continue to support the military through your position at Interactive Government Holdings.
